Head of Menswear, Mark Thomas, joined the British label just two years ago but already he’s racked up an impressive collection. Classic with a twist, Mr Thomas has drawn on his previous experience at Burberry and Givenchy, where he was also Head Designer of Menswear, to come up with a style that’s both fresh, luxurious and modern. His latest collection is absolutely spot on and provides ample classics, along with some more fashion-forward pieces that can be easily combined with your existing wardrobe for a more contemporary look. I’ve had a look through the collection and these are my top three picks. Here’s why:
- An ochre suit like this livens up a staid wardrobe. You might be a greys-and-navy man but it doesn’t mean you have to shy away from strong colours. Pair this with a simple crisp shirt or a white tank top beneath and it’s still a look that’ll be on-trend for next year.
2. Knits can be a challenge, especially if you hail from the humid Tropics where woolly cardigans and pullovers aren’t exactly a staple and it’s hard to pull off one without resembling a grandad. The solution? An oversized knit with a thick, manly weave and scant layers underneath to spoil the silhouette of such a statement piece. Throw it on like you just don’t care. At least you’ll know you’ll be warm.
3. Black is good. As long as you have textures to beak up the dark. Like this look above, which manages to channel a rugged insouciance (hello white sneaks and deep-V pullover) along with a polished finish. Contradiction? Seems to work here.
Check out the rest of the collection and pick your personal fave here. Just curious, which would be your pick? Maybe the stripes? Or the lovely overcoats?
And if you’re in town and want to see the looks (and try them on for yourself) then you’re in luck! As JOSEPH has just opened its new store at 13 Stamford Road Capitol Piazza #01-19/20/21. Monday. 10:00-22:00. Tuesday. 10:00-22:00.
