An accessories label started by Singaporean Quanda Ong, Gnome and Bow has been producing a slew of well-crafted bags and leather accessories for men (well mainly for men, though I’m certain the women have taken to purchasing his pieces too, especially the brand’s nifty satchels and portfolios). The collection is based thematically on stories, with the previous BOOK II Jekyll’s Hyde Bag collection reflecting two very different takes on the same bag, by simply changing the way it’s fastened or by turning the bag inside out to get a whole new look. The premise was that you might have a work bag in the day that looked more serious but you then also had the option to could it round on the weekends for something more casual, which is pretty cool considering that you are essentially getting two bags for the price of one. Also, the printed motif was illustrated specially for the collection, so you won’t be seeing it on every other guy.
Recently, the brand launched its latest small leather good collection, just in time to provide retail relief for harried shoppers or people looking for something for their man-friends (oxblood card-holder with debossing) or significant other (sleek black leather wallet).
It’s an extension of their first collection, which was titled BOOK I: The Hare and Flying Tortoise and features a range of wallets, cardholders and passport cases in a sleek, minimalist design, debossed with a discreet hare and tortoise motif and finished with hand-stitched reinforcements. To get your eyeful (or avoid turning into that harried last-minute shopper) you might want to check out the rest of their collection here. Enjoy!
